From the house if you walk along the beach you will pass the Sailing Club (after 400 yards), which is opposite the Mariners pub. The Mariners changed hands a couple of years ago and is no longer a Cornish pub. I would describe it as a designer bar trying to exist in Cornwall. It changed hands again about 12 months ago and is now one of the many Nathen Outlaw offerings in the area. As a result the food is pretty good but you can’t book a table, you have to turn up and wait your turn!
Keep going (100 yards), and you pass the Camel Water-ski School- www.camelskischool.com or phone 0120 886 2727. They get at peak times so you need to book. Go to their website to check the latest prices.
Next to the ski club is the Camel Sailing School - www.camelsailing.co.uk or 0120 886 2881 where they will teach all standards.
Another 300 yards and you get to the ferry which runs to Padstow and back from 8am to 8pm. In the winter you wave a flag in the direction of Padstow and they arrive (after 8pm in the summer you take a water taxi which you need to book).
If it is low tide and you keep walking you can walk along the beach all the way to Daymer Bay.
At high tide head through the dunes and walk over the golf course, actually there are two of them at St Enodoc - www.st-enodoc.co.uk or 0120 886 3216. The Church course allows you to play if you have a handicap of 24 or better and for ladies it's 30 or better but the Holywell course allows anyone. The Church course is probably one of the best links courses in the country. Why is it the Church course? Because St Enodoc Church is halfway down the 10th and Sir John Betjamin is buried there. The Church has been there since 800AD. Anyway, if you do keep walking to Daymer the windsurfing is brilliant but if you can't handle a sail then walk along the cliff path to Polzeath which has terrific surfing. Don't panic if you've not got a wet suit and a board as there are many shops on Polzeath beach which will hire you one and teach you to surf. By the time you get to Daymer you have walked 2.5 miles and it's sand all the way so it's great for the kids.
